Fine Italian violins, violas and cellos by Luigi VillaBowmaker Morgan Andersen Jacques & Monique Poullot Guide To Choosing and Using Strings For Violins, Violas and Cellos How to Keep Your Violin, Viola, Cello and Bow in Top Playing Condition The Violin Makers of France Gift Suggestions from Ifshin Violins Fine Italian violins, violas and cellos by Dino Lelli Recently retired from an almost sixty year career in violin making, Dino Lelli gave Jay Ifshin, owner of Ifshin Violins, and Herb Rudolph, of Timberwood Industries, the opportunity to acquire instruments from his personal collection. When they arrived at Mr. Lelli's workshop and saw the fine instruments, they knew immediately that these were exactly what many of our clients were looking for. Jay chose seventeen violins, two violas and two cellos including a matched quartet from the collection. We are proud to offer these violins, viola and cellos to you. Since offering them here at the shop we have sold all of the cellos and violas, and most of the violins. Dino Lelli was born in 1919 and worked at first as a cabinet maker but while still in his teens found that he had a gift for violin making. He had the good fortune to be able to serve an apprenticeship with the celebrated master maker Aldo Zani who worked for a time in Cesena. Zani won medals for his work at the Rome Exhibition of 1954. His instruments were played by members of the La Scala Orchestra. Dino Lelli crafted most of his instruments on the Stradivarius model but added his own creative touches resulting in a uniquely personal model. He used a fine oil varnish of great quality and transparency, ranging in color from light golden brown to a dark golden red. The maple he chose was of the highest quality and is especially beautiful. Musicians who have played them have been very enthusiastic about the excellent tone quality. If you are searching for a quality Italian violin at an affordable price, we urge you to try an instrument by Dino Lelli. Call us today for more information or an appointment to play them and share our enthusiasm. |
