Fine Basses in the Ifshin Violins Collection
Basses
Old French. This fine old bass has a flat back, gamba corners, and a slightly larger body than most 3/4 basses. Big, warm sound.
Jay Haide à l'ancienne. These are new 3/4 basses with an antiqued varnish. The French-style body shape has violin corners and narrow, sloping shoulders for easy access to thumb positions. The classical Italian model has full upper and lower bouts. Beautiful sound and nicely flamed wood. (several examples)

Jay Haide. These 3/4 basses are also made at our workshop and set up here in Berkeley. Beautiful sound and nicely flamed wood, with a red-brown varnish. Generally available in both the French and Italian models. (several examples)
Jay Haide 1/2 size. This bass has a big sound for a small instrument! Violin corners, narrow upper bouts, and a clear red varnish bring out the beautiful look and sound of this bass.
Scherl and Roth. This European made bass has a carved top and back and is in excellent condition. Nice tone with very good projection. Played for several years by a local professional musician, it is a great bass at a very affordable price.

We now have the new CodaBow Revelation composite bass bow! This is a new design, and is the first bass bow from CodaBow. The Revelation is available in a French style, and has a polished carbon fiber finish.
